 Music Fix with Pogo: Office

officeMusic Fix With Pogo: Chicago's Office is set to have a big year. Well, maybe more like a continuation of the big year that began for them in '07. 2007 saw them in a high profile appearance at the South By Southwest Festival, and the release of their latest record, 'A Night At The Ritz.' In essence, they're now breaching that distinction between "local band", and national profile indie group. The music is infectious, it urges you to clap (or jump..or both) right along, and they pull all of it together during their spirited live shows.

When the Lollapalooza organizers announced the main portion of their 2008 artist lineup this week, they included Office among the initial acts, and the only Chicago indie outfit to earn that distinction this year. This means that they are a bona-fide Lolla artist, and not simply a "local filler band" that they throw in there just weeks before the festival. You know, the bands that they have play the first sets on the side stages when the gates have barely even opened in the morning.
This is a major jump for a band that *was* one of those filler bands just two years ago, when they were invited last minute to play Lollapalooza '06, taking the place of a last minute cancellation.
Look for a new single from the group shortly, and make sure you circle their name on the Lolla program grid and catch their set.

For words and music from Office, be sure to catch my feature with the band on Metromix TV, Monday April 14th on CLTV.
